Acropolis in Greece

The Acropolis is an ancient citadel situated on a table type rock having an altitude of 490 ft above sea level in Athens. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site and houses the remains of several buildings of immense historical importance including the Parthenon. One has to enter the Acropolis through the Propylaea. Acropolis also houses the temple of Athena Nike. It has the famous Parthenon at the center and all the ancient artifacts are preserved in the Acropolis Museum on the southern slope of the rock. The Panathenaea festival is held every four years is very popular like the Olympics.
