Colosseum in Rome Italy

Visit to Rome is incomplete without the Colosseum. Built by the Romans, it is the largest amphitheater. Built by using stones and concrete, the Colosseum has an elliptical structure with tiered seating arrangement and the archaeologists are of the opinion that it could hold from 50,000 to 80,000 spectators. It is also known as Flavian Amphitheater and with an arena measuring 83 meters by 48 meters it was used for holding gladiator duels and other entertainment shows. Though partly ruined due to earthquake, it still stands as the symbol of the mighty Roman Empire and attracts millions of tourists every year.
